Xeno legion commander

Imperial Xeno Legion

What is the Imperial Xeno Legion? That’s a good question, and one that can be answered in a couple of different ways. Like, how do we fit into the Klingon Fantasy, as played at by the rest of KAG? And, What are we really?

First, we will talk about the fantasy. The IXL was founded to help secure  Klingon territorial holdings, acting as a garrison force, while the front line troops (THE KLINGON DEFENSE FORCES)  went on to expand the empire. This role gradually changed, however, placing the IXL troops under the direct command of the KDF. The IXL is made up of alien mercenaries, fighting not only for monetary gain, but also for the chance to earn citizenship in the Empire. After serving a full tour (three years) with Honor, a Legionnaire may become a full fledged citizen. The IXL is often viewed as a haven for misfits, forlorn lovers, criminals on the run and thrill seekers.

While the LEGION’S policy of not looking into a recruit’s past too deeply means that it has had more than it's share of these, more often than not a Legionnaire is a professional soldier that prefers fighting with the Legion to serving peacetime duty with his own defense forces. It is this fighting spirit for which the Legion is known, and the tlhegh qij, or black rope, which a Legionnaire wears on his left shoulder, further symbolizes that spirit. This black rope symbolizes the Black Fleet, and the Legionnaire's desire to serve in the afterlife. Where he may defeat enemies again and again.

Ok, now for the real world stuff. The IXL is open to both current members, and new ones. If a current member of KAG wishes to become a Legionnaire, and completes a new uniform and make up (we'll come to that In a minute), he enters the Legion at a rank equivalent to his Klingon rank. The IXL uses the Marine ranking system, except al L 'instead of an M' denotes our ranks. Thus, a Lt. Commander vestai would transfer to the rank of L. Major. Notice that no honorific was used, as a Legionnaire Is not eligible to receive these until he becomes a citizen.

For those who like to do lots of different costuming and create three or more personae, there is status of shape shifter. The Founders aren't the only race that can change appearance at will. The first step in joining the IXL is to decide what type of alien you want to be. Those who join the IXL are expected to actively portray an alien and pursue the completion of an associated uniform. What type of uniform? If the race of your choosing has a type of armor or clothing particular to them, then you are encouraged to take that route. If not, Klingon armor is acceptable now, to clear up one thing: by alien, we mean alien race. Not HUMAN (some make up is required, even if it's only an outbreak of Trillian Measles), and not KLINGON. The alien can be from any scifi movie or TV show. Yes, that means you could be a Jawa, a Wookie, a Narn, ECT. Can you be a Jedi Knight?? Sure, but what race? A Jedi is not a race, but an occupation. Anything is fair game as long as it has been on the screen at one time or another, or in print.

The IXL also encourages individuals to work out new costuming techniques. With a wide assortment of alien races out there, you can always find something new to create. Feel up to the challenge? Maybe you can't do it by yourself, but If you had a little input from friends. The IXL can, by the very nature of its diversity, foster creativity.
